Pohulianka is a historical district of the city located on its eastern outskirts. Burgomaster Jan Attelmajer gave these lands to the tenant farmers.
At the beginning of the 19th century, a lawyer Franz Węgliński purchased this territory for his estate. He was known in the city as a person who was very fond of fun and entertainment. He began to arrange good resting places, and therefore Lviv citizens more often began to come there for a walk.
In the middle of the 19th century, there were Johan Distel’s restaurant and Johan Klein’s brewery. The restaurant in Pohulianka was famous for its Galician cuisine, and the lovers of outdoor activities were able to taste delicious ice cream in the summer pavilion of the Maision's Cukiernia.
Nowadays, Pohulianka is a quiet place for taking a walk and enjoying the privacy. Nearby is located the Botanical Garden of the Ivan Franko Lviv National University.
