Zalizni Vody Park and Sofiivka Park is located on the former outskirts of Lviv.
It was known among citizens for its sources of high-iron water, hence the name of the park (‘zalizni vody’ means ‘iron waters’). The Sofiivka Park was named after Sophia Hanel, the owner of the surrounding grounds, and the St. Sophia Cathedral of the Roman Catholic Diocese, which she built.
As a resting place, this park remained popular even in the 19th century. Franz Kratter Summer Theater used to perform there on the weekends sometimes. Nowadays, it is a place for quiet walks.
