In the past, there was a club of Galician aristocrats in this magnificent building and it was closed to the general public.
Therefore it was sometimes contemptuously called "horse casino", hinting that the majority of club members had their own stables of race horses. At the end of the XIX century, the design of the building was implemented by Vienna Fellner & Helmer architecture studio.
The dominating element in the interior is a spacious hall with a presentable staircase and unique decorative elements. There were also a cinema, cardrooms and ballrooms.
The building was a favorite place for city balls, social occasions and presentations for a long period of time. Periodically, incredible rumors about the amount of champagne consumed by visitors and the amount of fortune won and lost here were spread in the city.
