The House “Seasons of the year” is the name of the non-official, but very popular in the city townhouse located at 23 Virmenska St. At the end of the 19th century, turning to the works of the Roman poet Virgil, this building was decorated with astrological symbols and events from the life of people typical for each season of the year. All of them also received appropriate titles in Latin. The most interesting decor is in the center of the facade, where a sundial in the form of the god Saturn is located.
The god holds the sphere that says "Linea Loci" and at the same time leans on the unforgiving hourglass. Like every building in Lviv, this one also has its own secret. On the eve of the Second World War, in its premises, the artist Janusz Witwicki started creating a magnificent Plastic Panorama of Old Lviv with measurement of 1:200 scale. Nowadays it is presented in Wroclaw, Poland.
