Is the oldest necropolis in Lviv. In the second half of the 18th century the special state commission has started the so-called reordering of cities in the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth.

One of the conditions was the requirement to relocate cemeteries from the city centre. In order to bury the inhabitants and rebury the remains from the old cemeteries in dignified way, the city bought the German colonists’ territories, which were located on outskirts of the city.

This is where the Lychakiv Cemetery appeared. It covers the territory of 40 hectares with tens of thousands of monuments, which have been under special care of restorers since 1998. Such outstanding figures of world culture as Ivan Franko, Maria Konopnytska, Stefan Banakh, Volodymyr Ivasiuk are buried there.

After the Russian invasion of Ukraine in 2014, a new cemetery for the Ukrainian heroes who died on the eastern front was created. It is located along with the Polish and Ukrainian military memorials dated back to the first half of the 20th century.
