It belonged to Antonio Massari, Consul of Venice in Lviv. The powerful Republic of Venice had many interests in the entire Europe. Its brave residents went on the road without any hesitation as soon as there was a political interest or a chance to benefit. Many Venetian citizens lived permanently or temporarily in Lviv, and therefore protection of their interests became necessary.
Very often they were Greek merchants who came from such islands as Crete, which had already been under the domination of the Republic for several centuries. Given the importance of the representation and in order to make its design better, the entrance to the building was marked with a winged lion, which had to symbolize the power of "La Serenissima", or "Noble Lady," as Venice was often called.
The house was built in the late 16th century and was rebuilt several times during its existence. However, in its interior you can still find the original elements of the past.
