On the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the outstanding
Ukrainian philosopher-mystic, writer, teacher, theologian, traveler Hryhorii Skovoroda, the Lviv Museum of the History of Religion presents the exhibition project "Wisdom as a Weapon".
The project was implemented with the grant support of the Ukrainian Cultural
Foundation, together with the NGO "Ecology. Culture. Art",
Lviv Museum of the History of Religion. The goal is to honor the intellectual heritage of
Hryhoriy Skovoroda, to reveal the multifaceted image of the philosopher, to encourage
artists to rethink his work and read his works through
contemporary art. Curator - Sofia Kaskun, senior researcher
LMIR.
Artists from different parts of Ukraine joined the project: Odesa, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Kolomyia, Ternopil, Horodok, Bryukhovychi, Lviv.
Works of painting, graphics, decorative and contemporary art are presented,
weaving. In total - 22 works of honored and folk artists, young
artists and their teachers. Each picture is accompanied by a trigger (Skovoroda's own expressions or expressions that gave impetus to the creation of the picture).
This will help the visitor to get acquainted not only with the artists who worked on the theme of Skovoroda, but also with Skovoroda's quotes, to learn more about him. In addition, a traveling exhibition is planned, which will present reproductions of the works.
Lviv residents and guests of our city will be able to see it in the open space at
1 Muzeina Square.
